Letter from the President

I hope you’ve enjoyed our previous newsletters and found them to be informative. In this issue, we spotlight two physicians. Eric Sacknoff, M.D., with Smyth County Urology in Smyth County, Va., provides a closer look at a number of urological issues—along with some of today’s state-of-the-art treatment options. We also take a closer look at Bert Smith, M.D., with Blue Ridge Primary Care in Johnson City, who explains the specialty of internal medicine and pediatrics. I think you’ll also enjoy reading about a creative idea from one of our Blue Ridge First Assist Urgent Care team members, who came up with the idea to use “care bears” for patients facing medical procedures. It has been an overwhelming success, and we are proud of her efforts to bring loving care to health care in such a simple-yet-powerful way.
